Profile and saturation

The Profile page shows the chart of the dive and the saturation state of your tissues. It is refreshed after every calculation run from the Plan page.

Dive profile chart with the depth curve

The profile chart

The chart draws depth against time: descent, bottom, ascent, stops, gas changes and loop flushes, each one drawn with its own duration. It also shows the decompression ceiling and the surface.

  • Zoom: use the + and - buttons (or the wheel on a computer, a pinch on a phone). A reset button appears once you have zoomed in.
  • Panning: drag the chart to move along it once zoomed in.
  • Detail at one moment: tap or click a point of the profile to show the tissue saturation at that exact moment.
  • Scale: line thickness and font size are set through the chart scale (handy for projecting or printing).

In rebreather mode, tabs switch between the CCR profile and the bailout profile.

Tissue saturation

Below the chart, MV-Plan shows the 16 tissue compartments of the Buhlmann model.

Leading compartment

A banner highlights the leading compartment: the one currently setting your decompression ceiling. It gives its number, its saturation, the gradient factor in force and the ceiling in metres.

The 16 compartments

Each compartment is drawn as a bar:

  • compartment number and half-time;
  • type: fast, medium or slow tissue;
  • saturation, colour coded (red above 80 %, orange between 60 and 80 %, blue below).

Click a bar to unfold the detail of the compartment: nitrogen and helium half-times, the a and b coefficients of the algorithm, the M-value at the current depth, and an explanation of the actual gradient factor. MV-Plan spells out in particular the part played by GF Low (applied at the deepest ceiling of the dive), by GF High (the saturation tolerated at the surface) and by the interpolation between the two.

School mode

Once school mode is enabled in the Settings, the chart overlays up to three curves, one per selected GF preset. Each curve has its colour, and a clickable legend shows or hides each of them.

A comparison table goes with the chart: for each GF preset it gives the maximum depth, the runtime, the TTS, the CNS and the OTU. It is a teaching tool, there to make the effect of gradient factors on decompression visible.
