MV-Plan
MV-Plan is a decompression planner for technical scuba diving. It computes your decompression stops with the Buhlmann ZHL-16C (and ZHL-16B) algorithm and gradient factors (GF), for open circuit (OC) diving as well as closed circuit rebreather (CCR) diving.
The application runs straight in your browser, on a computer as well as on a phone. It is also available as an installable app (Android and iOS) and as a desktop application. All your data (settings, mixes, plans) stays on your device: nothing is sent to a server.
Disclaimer: MV-Plan is a planning aid. It does not replace training, experience or the diver's judgment. Always check your plan against other tools and carry backup tables.
Read this if you have used MV-Plan before: the ascent is now computed the way Subsurface computes it, and most plans come out slightly shorter than before; a dive with no decompression obligation no longer shows a decompression stop but a named safety stop. A plan saved before that change no longer recomputes identically. See Ascent calculation and, for the previous change, New pressure model.
Main features
- Decompression calculation with Buhlmann ZHL-16C / ZHL-16B and adjustable gradient factors (GF Low / GF High), an ascent computed the way Subsurface computes it and continuously compared against its engine.
- Safety stop, named and adjustable, on dives with no decompression obligation.
- Open circuit and rebreather: OC mixes, CCR diluents, fixed or dynamic setpoints.
- Bailout simulation: the open circuit way out if the rebreather fails.
- Gas mixes: air, nitrox, trimix, with automatic MOD (maximum operating depth) and END (equivalent narcotic depth).
- Gas consumption: requirements per cylinder from your own consumption (RMV / SAC), with a warning when capacity falls short.
- Profile chart: the dive drawn out, saturation of the 16 tissue compartments, leading compartment.
- Safety alerts: narcosis (END), gas density (CO2), isobaric counterdiffusion on a gas switch (ICD).
- Real environment: altitude up to 4000 m and adjustable salinity (fresh, brackish, sea, Red Sea or a custom density from 9500 to 12500 g/l).
- School mode: several gradient factor settings compared side by side on the same profile.
- Saved plans: save, duplicate, import and export your plans.
- PDF export: a printable dive sheet, with or without the profile chart.
- Multilingual: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish.
Requirements
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
- No account and no permanent internet connection: the application works offline once loaded.
- For the mobile version: Android or iOS, through the download buttons inside the application.
Where to start
- Ascent calculation: what changed in the ascent and what it means for your saved plans.
- New pressure model: the previous change, about pressure.
- First steps: finding your way around the interface.
- Settings: setting the algorithm, the rates, your own consumption.
- Water type and salinity: setting the salinity of the site and measuring its effect on the stops.
- Gases: declaring your mixes and your cylinders.
- Planning: building a dive and running the calculation.
